Financial disclaimer.

The most important page on the Site. Before relying on any content here for any decision, please read this. Plain English; no fine-print games.

Effective date: latest revision of this page.

1. Not investment advice

Nothing on cpichart.com constitutes investment advice, financial advice, trading advice, or any other sort of advice — personalized or otherwise. The content of this Site is for general informational and educational purposes only. We are not registered investment advisors, broker-dealers, financial planners, or fiduciaries of any kind in relation to readers.

Specifically and without limitation:

  • Inflation analysis on the Site is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, including Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS), inflation swaps, or any related instrument.
  • Discussion of monetary policy or Federal Reserve actions is not a forecast of, or trading recommendation around, interest-rate-sensitive instruments.
  • Mention of any commodity, currency, asset class, or sector is not a recommendation regarding that asset.
  • The calculators on the Site produce hypothetical, illustrative figures based on user-supplied inputs and historical data. They are not personalized financial projections and should not be relied upon for any specific decision.
  • The newsletter, if you choose to subscribe, is editorial commentary, not personalized investment recommendations.

Investing involves risk, including the risk of loss. Past performance is not indicative of future results. Before making any investment decision, consult a qualified financial professional who has reviewed your specific situation.

2. Data accuracy

We make a sincere effort to present accurate, up-to-date data sourced from authoritative providers. However, we make no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or timeliness, and we are not responsible for any errors or omissions or any consequences resulting from the use of the data.

Specific issues to be aware of:

  • Revisions. Economic data — including CPI sub-components, PPI, PCE, and other indicators — is subject to revision by the issuing agencies. Figures shown on the Site at any point in time reflect the most recent vintage available to the data provider; later revisions may change historical values.
  • Live widgets. Chart and ticker data is provided by TradingView and routed from various exchange and economic data feeds. Outages, data feed delays, or display errors can occur, and we cannot guarantee real-time accuracy.
  • Calculations. Calculators on the Site use the underlying data we have on file. We periodically update with newly released figures, but during release windows the data shown may briefly lag the most recent print.
  • Historical series. Long historical series (such as CPI back to 1913) reflect the BLS-published consolidated series. Methodology changes mean that comparisons across very long periods involve more uncertainty than recent comparisons.

If you spot an error, please let us know. Corrections are made visibly where appropriate.

3. Third-party data sources

The Site relies on data and content from third parties, including:

  • U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (bls.gov) for CPI, PPI, and labor data. Primary source for inflation series.
  • Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED, fred.stlouisfed.org) hosted by the St. Louis Fed for historical economic series. Secondary source.
  • Bureau of Economic Analysis (bea.gov) for PCE inflation and GDP data.
  • Social Security Administration (ssa.gov) for COLA history.
  • TradingView (tradingview.com) for live chart, ticker tape, and economic-calendar widgets.

These third parties are not affiliated with cpichart.com, do not endorse us, and have not reviewed our content. Their accuracy, terms, and policies are governed by them, not us. We disclaim responsibility for any errors or omissions in third-party content.

4. No warranty

All content, tools, and information on the Site are provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, complete, timely, secure, or fit for any particular purpose. Use of the Site is at your own risk.

5. No fiduciary relationship

Nothing on the Site creates a fiduciary, advisory, agency, or other special relationship between cpichart.com and any reader. We do not owe you fiduciary duties. Your use of the Site is unilateral; you are not our client.

6. Forward-looking statements

The Site occasionally discusses possible future economic developments — what might happen in the next CPI print, where the Fed might move, where inflation might head. These are speculative observations based on currently available information. Forecasts can be and frequently are wrong. Do not rely on any forward-looking statement as a prediction of what will actually happen.

7. Advertising

The Site displays advertising through third-party ad networks. Advertisers and their products are not endorsed by cpichart.com. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, legality, or quality of any advertising or for transactions between you and any advertiser. Click through advertisements at your own risk.

8. Personal responsibility

You are solely responsible for any decisions you make, financial or otherwise, in connection with information obtained from the Site. By using the Site, you acknowledge and agree that cpichart.com is not liable for any losses, damages, or consequences resulting from your reliance on Site content.

9. Updates

This disclaimer may be updated. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Site after updates constitutes acceptance.
